Beautiful Mimosa
.
Scientific or Latin name: Acacia dealbata Link.
Common or vulgar name: Fine Mimosa, Mimosa, Common Mimosa, Silver Mimosa, French Aroman.
Mimosa is a fast-growing tree that as soon as winter is ending and spring begins, we can see how it begins to bloom. The most characteristic of the mimosa are its intense yellow flowers in the shape of a sphere. In addition, as it is a tree that can reach up to 15 meters in height, it becomes a striking tree when it is in full bloom. It also highlights that it is a persistent leaf tree.
If we focus on the flowers of the mimosa, we can see that it has some beautiful flowers. In addition to the perfect spherical shape in deep yellow, the flowers of the mimosa also have a heady aroma.
On the other hand, it should be noted that one of the problems that mimosa has is related to its growth. In general, the growth of trees is usually as follows: first the roots grow and as they grow, the branches also grow but not at the same rate. That is, if for example the roots grow two meters, the branches will grow one meter.
In the case of mimosas, root growth (root growth) goes hand in hand with aerial growth (branch growth). Then the aerial part has a somewhat weak branch, and they can be split in half after a storm. To avoid this it is recommended to prune the mimosa progressively so that the branches do not grow as fast and these branches have more strength. The pruning of the mimosa should be done after flowering and always on the branches that have green leaves.
On the other hand, it is necessary to emphasize that the mimosa can get to expand a lot by roots. Since at the time of reproduction, it can be done either by seeds or by roots, appearing new shoots. In dry Atlantic areas as the whole coast of Portugal extends in an impressive way.
That's why in this country the mimosa is an unwanted tree. Therefore, we must be careful in this type of areas because the mimosa can become an invasive species.
