CubaLibre
.
A whole song of liberation, the cocktail CubaLibre is a classic in the world of cocktails and is now popularly known as cubata.
It had its origin in the times of José Martí when both Cubans and North Americans maintained excellent relations, like Ron Bacardí and Coca-Cola, and it has to do with the liberation of Cubans from the Spanish back in 1898, thanks to the "disinterested" help of the Americans and not with Fidel Castro, since he appropriated the distilleries that the Bacardí had then, as well as the ice and Coca-Cola factories that existed on the island.
Don Facundo Bacardi joined the destiny of the first distillery to that of a palm tree that was in the courtyard of the factory and while it was upright and majestic the distillery would work. In 1960, Fidel Castro, by nationalizing private properties, made that palm tree turn sad and withered, causing the Bacardí family to settle in Puerto Rico from where their rum reached fame and prestige worldwide.
Adding a slice of lime or lemon to the rum and to the Coca-Cola served to add a citrus slice to all the soft drinks.
Its preparation is very simple and is made directly in long glass, no cocktail shakers because the soft drink would make a mess.
Ingredients:
1 part rum
1 jet of lime or lemon juice
2 parts of cola, for example Coca Cola
How to prepare:
Nothing is simpler than preparing a cuba or free Cuba cocktail, simply put two or three ice cubes in a long glass. Then pour the rum, if it is aged better because it gives better flavor, then a stream of lemon juice or lime and finally stuffed with cold cola.
For decoration the most usual is to place a slice of lime or lemon in its absence.
