Not all houses had imposing gates. However the most important houses in the village did. It was a way of showing status of the family who lived there as well as command respect and admiration.
The craftsmanship of the people who rebuilt these magnificent gates also shows in the beautiful solar motif created on the sides - which has been prevailing in this area from the days of the ancient Dacians, the country's original ancestors, who were Sun worshippers.
