Depression isn't a game; it's peoples lives..

So I found this great article that lists celebrities that openly speak out about their depression. Its something I have suffered with for years since I was attacked at the age of 19. Actress Gabrielle Union (who starred in bad boys 2) also was attacked at the age of 19. Celebrities such as Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and lady gaga have suffered from mental illness at some point in their lives.

Last night I felt extremely low so I did the strangest thing that I thought would help and not be destructive or dangerous to my health. I decided to drink a very sweet drink that I believed would give me a sugar rush and uplift me! It actually managed to knock me out and make me fall asleep, which is strange because I thought I had insomnia.

Anyway, I believed to a certain point that depression wasn't something that was within my control; but, little did I know it actually was to some extent. I realised that depression contrasts strongly to the idea of happiness, therefore if I am happy I won't be so depressed. But admittedly its a lot easier in thought than in reality. Just because one is depressed doesn't mean someone can just revert back to their ordinary self.

Speaking of reverting back to myself, I thought it may have been something that was impossible at the time, but little did I know time was a healer. It allowed me to remember what I used to do to make me happy. Small things like painting, writing poetry, spending time with my family or something as simple as going for a walk.
I just want those who are suffering with depression to know that it is possible to bounce back from it, no matter how impossible or difficult it seems. There are many different means of help and support such as professional support that one can take. It is something that you do not have to be ashamed of. Although it may be daunting, it is possible to beat this depression: you have to be ready to fight it.

Below is a link to the website I came across when I was looking for ways I could overcome depression. I also wanted to see what Celebrities suffer from it. I couldn't believe some of the stories I read. Some phenomenal, yet scary. But at the same time this was reassuring to me, I felt less alone:

I have wanted to write an article on panic attacks for quite some time. I understand that panic attacks affect people greatly, on an emotional and physical scale. Many things can trigger panic attacks, to my experience they are some-what self-induced. Because I suffer from (ADHD) it makes me more prone to panic attacks because I have a natural hyperactivity. But for those who suffer from panic attacks can suffer from short-term or long-term anxiety. We can also experience panic attacks from being in situations that unsettle us emotionally. When a panic attack strikes, many have compared the feeling to that of a heart attack. Your chest becomes tight, your breathing becomes shallow and the result leaves your breathing constricted.

One of the best things to do when you have a heart attack is to control your breathing. Once your breathing more deeply and at a slower pace you are sure to overcome the feeling of your chest being tight. Occasionally, depending on how bad the panic attack is the tightness of the chest can last for a few hours. If you are experiencing a panic attack, take deep, slow breaths, breathe in, hold it for a second and then exhale. Another good thing to do when you are having a panic attack is to seek the support of someone you trust. This can be a family member or a friend. I have often find that when I am in the company of loved ones, I am able to calm down when experiencing such an ordeal of emotions.

Panic attacks can be overlooked and many do not regard panic attacks as serious, but panic attacks can actually be traumatic to the individual experiencing it. A lot of people that experience panic attacks feel like they cannot breathe while experiencing the attack. I define a panic attack as 'panicking about panicking'. When we panic, and we are aware that we are in a state of panic, we can panic more and that can lead to the panic attack. The most advisable thing to do if you are having a panic attack is to move yourself to a place of comfort, a place that does not trigger your feelings of intense anxiety. If you are concerned that the panic attack could be an implication of something more serious, then do not be afraid to seek medical advice.

Remember that you are not alone, and significant amounts of people suffer from panic attacks. Remember to try to remain calm and that a panic attack is usually something that passes, it does not last forever. If anxiety is an on-going thing you suffer from then you can seek help from a general practician, or even seek cognitive behavioural therapy. If seeking medical help overwhelms you, then make small steps towards managing your anxiety. Anxiety can be managed in numerous ways:

- Listening to calm music
-Surrounding yourself with supportive, positive individuals that can help aid your anxiety
-Distract yourself (you will find that once you are distracted or focusing on something else other than the panic attack, it will reduce the symptoms of shallow breathing)
-Don't worry - if you feel like you are having a panic attack there is always something that can be done, there are people, loved ones or professionals that you can reach out to especially if it is something you are experiencing long-term.
-Lastly remember that a panic attack will eventually pass and remember to breathe deeply and to focus on things that will calm you down, such as speaking to someone you trust that can help take your mind off the attack, calming music.
-Remember that you are not alone

Historically, many of our beloved stars such as Judy Garland (Dorothy in the wizard of oz) and Marilyn Monroe (fashion model), 
both died of as result of a barbiturates overdose.

Many people may not be aware but Garland and Marilyn Monroe may have had more in common than nearly anyone suspected, and were able to find common ground before their deaths. For instance: Garland’s third husband, Garland and Monroe in fact had a somewhat intense friendship

At one point, as recounted in the memoir, Monroe approached Garland at a party and asked if they might be able to talk (it was shortly before Monroe passed away from a barbituates overdose in 1962). It was revealed that: Monroe’s death was “especially troubling to Judy since Marilyn had been one of Judy’s telephone pals during her years of insomnia.” Garland herself would die of a drug overdose in 1969.

What are barbiturates?

Barbiturates are a class of drugs that have been derived from barbituric acid. Barbituric acid itself has no therapeutic activity; however, its derivatives enhance the action of GABA, a neurotransmitter that inhibits the activity of nerve cells in the brain.

Historically, barbiturates were used in the treatment of anxiety, epilepsy, as anesthetics, and to induce sleep. However, they have a tendency to cause psychological and physical dependence and there is a fine line between a normal dose and a toxic dose. Nowadays, barbiturates have been largely superseded by safer drugs, although some are still used during surgery or to control seizures. Another common name for them would be benzos.

What happens when they are abused?

Because these drugs are predominantly sedatives when they are abused they can put a strain on the heart and also the respirtory system. Ultimately, this is why certain people do not survive the potential overdose because after haven taken the poll they become sedated and respiration can be affected due to late quantities of the sleeping pill being absorbed. Hence, respiratory medication may be given in the event of the sleeping tablet overdose, or your stomach may be pumped. However, if I'd too late like the cases of Marilyn Monroe and Judie Garland, you may well be unconscious and dead before anyone even finds you...

What is Tort Law
Tort law is the body of laws that enables people to seek compensation for wrongs committed against them. When someone’s actions cause some type of harm to another, whether it be physical harm to another person, or harm to someone’s property or reputation, the harmed or injured person or entity may seek damages through the court.

Damages are a monetary award ordered by the court to be paid to an injured party, by the party at fault. Damages may be awarded in compensation for loss of, or damage to, personal or real property, for an injury, or for a financial loss.

The types of damages that may be awarded by the court for civil wrongs, called “tortious conduct,” of an individual or entity include:

Reimbursement for property loss or property damage
Medical expenses
Pain and suffering
Loss of earning capacity
Punitive damages
Tort Liability
The legal term tort refers to an action in which one person or entity causes injury, harm, or damage to another person or entity. A tort liability may occur as a result of intentional acts, a negligent act, a failure to act when the individual had a duty to act, or a violation of statutes or laws. The individual who commits the tortious act (the act leading to the tort liability claim) is called the “tortfeasor,” and is the defendant in this type of civil lawsuit. Such a defendant is generally held liable for damages or harm suffered by the plaintiff, as a result of the defendant’s acts.

In many tort liability cases, the damages or injury suffered by the plaintiff do not have to be physical injury. Strict Liability Torts – the result of harm incurred due to the actions of another, with no finding of fault by the defendant.

Intentional torts are acts committed with the intent to harm another, or to deliberately interfere with an individual’s rights to bodily safety, emotional tranquility, privacy, control over property, freedom from deception, and freedom from confinement. Intentional torts commonly include such issues as assault and/or battery, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy, theft, property damage, fraud or other deception, and trespassing.

Intent is a key issue in proving an intentional tort, as the injured party, called the Plaintiff, must prove to the court that the other party, called the Respondent or Defendant, acted intentionally, and knew that his actions could cause harm. In some cases, the Plaintiff need only prove that the Defendant should have known that his actions could cause harm. Many intentional torts may also be charged as criminal offenses.

Negligent Torts
The acts leading to claims of harm or injury in negligent torts are not intentional. There are three specific elements that must be satisfied in a claim of negligence:

The defendant must have a duty or owe a service to the plaintiff or victim
The defendant must have failed that duty, or violated a promise or obligation to the plaintiff
The plaintiff must have suffered an actual loss, injury, or damages that were directly caused by the plaintiff’s actions, or failure to act.

RasmaSandra › Very good advice and it is always important to keep a clear head. I am an anxiety attack survivor and the one thing I discovered when I went through attacks was that one of the places I felt best and calmed down right away was in the toilet. Not even to do more than sit on the lid of the toilet and just relax. I will never understand why but a friend who was also going through this tried my method and also said it was the most calming.

senior1819 › That people with adhd are more prone to this is something new to me. What about when a panic attack starts happening at night? It could, right? I felt an unstable beating of my heart and small tremble the other night. I have experienced panic attack, when my breathing was shallow but this night experience was a different thing. Also, I like to stay alone when I'm facing the attacks so, having people aside you is not a pattern, isn't it?

NyishaHv › @RasmaSandra I hope your panic attacks are getting better now, I have suffered anxiety for most of my life to the point where it affects my sleep, hence I am on sleep medication for insomnia etc. But yes panic attacks can be so scary i think finding ways to overcome the panic attacks can help and when practiced can really help in the long-term

frenchqueen › I tried to experiment on writing articles and not writing articles but it had no effect on my earnings. So I don't think the articles generate more income at all. I focus more on interacting and I noticed that it helped with my earnings more.

NyishaHv › @frenchqueen it really depends on the amount of likes generated by the articles. The most amount of likes I had on an article was about 21 likes or 16. Generates at least 6p a day or more. I've been here for about a year now and i've only ever written articles, rated other peoples articles I don't really post photographs. But the thing is as well Tuetego is full of lots of bugs so sometimes even if your active and post it doesn't always generate the correct amount.

What is a complaints procedure? A complaints procedure is the procedure by which is taken when someone makes a complaint against you whether it is in a profession, or in education. My university has a complaints procedure, it expresses that students have the right to complain against a party that is causing them distress under the universities specific codes of conduct. This means esentially that all students have to adhere to our universities 'codes of conduct', which sets out a system of behaviour which is expected by each student at that university.

What are your rights.
You have the right to counter-complain, if you feel that someones complaint has been taken out of context, or is dishonest or if it is infactual. To my experience I have been complained against but it was an unfair complaint, so I composed a counter-complain setting out my side of the story. The result is still pending, but I have resolved relations with the other party that complained as it all boiled down to a misunderstanding on the other parties behalf which I accept.

Rights:

It is important that whether in work or whether in a university, you have to uphold good, positive behaviour in relation to other students. You must be respectful to other students; you must also respect other students point of view which is expressed to. And for instance should another student offend, slander or harass you to a point where it demeans you or makes you feel uncomfortable, you have the right to complain.

Etymology
An etymology is  the origins of words and how their meanings have changed throughout history. I think it will be interesting to see what the word 'complain' meant historically and these are my findings:

Complain from Middle English complaynen; from Old French complaindre, from Medieval Latin complangere (“to bewail, complain”), from Latin com- (“together”) + plangere (“to strike, beat, as the breast in extreme grief, bewail”)

Now the words complain and complaint:

Complaint: by a modern definition means 'a statement that something is unsatisfactory or unacceptable.'

To 'complain' means to: express dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.

So if you have ever had anyone complain against you remember you also have rights. You may have the right to counter-complain or address the complaint and address what you are being accused of and respectfully express your view. You must understand that complains can also be withdrawn also, so if someone complains against you, if they establish that you are not blameworthy for a complaint and they could perhaps address the predicament in an alternative way. Lastly, remember that a complaint implies accusation, so if someone has made a formal complaint against you, keep calm and remember that the outcome of the complaint may not always be at you think. And if it is, then you also have rights as an employee or a university student.

What is an internet troll?

Internet slang, a troll a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response. Internet trolls can frequent online platforms such as chat-rooms, social media websites and so on. Some trolls even go as far as intervening in others social lives.

It's debatable as to whether the internet trolls do have mental ailments, or whether they're sociopath or just the average person. The truth is an internet troll can be anyone, or even someone you know. To stay safe on the internet it is advisable to not give personal details out; overall, those can be shared to the online community and spread like wildfire. There are even instances where sensitive information such as bank account details and social security numbers, explicit pictures can be leaked to spite a person as well as exploit them.

Furthermore, 'Revenge porn' is something which is rife on the internet, famous people such as Cassie Ventura and vanessa hudgens and Tulisa contostavlos (N-dubz) have had their pictures explicitly leaked. Of course mentioning, could be considered exploitation, but that is already an example of how you can exploit someones personal information innocently, with no harm intended. Certain celebrities have been able to get court injunctions against their perpetrators in order to secure a more private life and avoid the further circulation of their personal pictures people leaked.

Moreover, 'revenge porn' is something people do which is malicious and intended to embarrass an individual regardless of their social status, more so celebrities can be vastly affected also because of their significant celebrity presence; their fame. Perpetrators intend to infiltrate and ruin the lives of various celebrities; but it is no surprise this is something that an average person can experience. Sadly, people will continue to harass, demean others online this can be for the following reasons: race, gender, nationality, religion. The list will go on.

Finally, One of the most powerful things one can do is ignore 'internet trolls', but sadly this is not something everyone can do, hence, people choosing to self-harm and take their own lives. Singer 'Zendaya', was bullied online because of the physical appearance of her parents, so she took to twitter to defend herself and humour trolls, however, not everyone is confident and emotionally strong enough to do so. Internet trolling is definitely something I have experienced, to a profound degree, but the best and safest way to deal with the situation is either to report it to the authorities if you can just ignore it.
