My definition of being strong tries to encapsulate all three: a strong person has great capability at facing challenges. Being strong means having the resources, the mental skills, and the physical capabilities to confront difficulties of all kinds. When you are strong, you have the ample excess of energy and stamina, so that when facing a challenge that depletes you of energy and inner strength, you still have enough left in you to act.
Some initial things to think about when starting to build inner strength:

1. Strength is the opposite of aggression: People act aggressively out of defense. When one feels like they are not strong enough to resolve a situation, violence and aggression come in handy as a means to deter and fend off others, thus avoiding real confrontation of a conflict. Think about people you know and consider to be strong. Strong individuals do not need to act aggressively because they feel that they have the power and skills to take over the details of a situation and bring it to a close. Aggression is a means of covering weakness.

2. Mental and physical strength cannot be separated: You can be the most psychologically resilient individual and break down mentally if you lose a few days of sleep. Physical and mental strength work in synergy and feed each other to form a strong individual, and the opposite is also true: being physically inactive and out of shape can make one sink down and vice versa. Several recent studies have shown that physical exercise is an effective way for treating clinical depression (see reference to Dunn et al below), and the medical community is now starting to treat stress from both physical and mental perspectives. To build inner strength you must build both physical endurance and mental muscle.

3. The first step is identifying your natural strengths: All of us are born with unique capabilities and skills, and the way to build one's strength is to focus on these specific skills and grow them. Some people run fast, others are flexible, some can lift significant weight. When it comes to mental muscle, there has been significant work done in the past decade on identifying natural strengths. Most notable is the work of Chris Peterson at the University of Michigan, together with Martin Seligman of UPenn, the founder of the positive psychology movement. You can find out your natural strengths at the VIA Institute's website, and learn more about Character Strengths and Virtues in Peterson and Seligman's excellent and thorough book. First identify what your natural strengths are, and then start working to enhance them further. Don't focus on what you know you are just not good at.

4. Mental strength is harder to track: It's easy to notice changes in physical strength: weight is lost, muscles are toned, and breathing becomes easier after running a short distance. It's much harder to notice differences in mental strength, and sometimes it simply helps to take notes: have you been losing your temper less often? Are you noticing a change in the way people respond to you? How do you feel when you open your eyes in the morning?

As far as I am aware the answer to this question is still not well-understood. Neuroscience is just beginning to explain some of the potential reasons humans have such an affinity for music (this is one of the things that largely separates humans from other animals -- few, if any, species innately recognize and respond to rhythm and melody the way humans do).

One of the theories out there is that our appreciation for music is a side effect of the evolutionary development of our other systems for verbal communication. Some scientists theorize that ancient human verbal communication may have been more like singing and less like speech.

Other theories correlate music with our brain's advanced abilities to do pattern recognition, typically used to detect deviations which may represent threats. Since most music follows a set of patterns, we find it appealing. This also explains why many find cacophonous or abstract music displeasing.

Music has substantial evolutionary survival value. There's a theory, which I find totally convincing, that music is the evolutionary precursor to language, the bridge between the cries and gestures of other primates and our own more abstract communication.

Humanity's success as a species is due entirely to our social organization. Music is a crucial tool for group building and bonding, more than we give it credit for in the western world. We here in modern high-tech culture think of music as a form of entertainment, mostly divorced from its most basic purposes. But taking the macro-scale historical view, music isn't recordings of specialists making pleasant background noise. It's all the emotional-laden patterned vocalization, percussion and gestures we perform, consciously and not. For example, all parents use music to comfort babies. Sometimes it's in the form of overt singing and dancing with them, but even routine speaking to very young children is mostly musical in content. There's the singsong cadence, the repetition, and the warmly modulated tone. This "motherese" is universal among human cultures and is probably very ancient. It's an essential tool for fostering kids' brain development and their relationships with their parents.

Music is also a crucial tool for social bonding among adults, for making a  tribe feel like a tribe. We use music to modulate our own emotions and those of others. There are ecstatic chants and dances for spiritual purposes, or for just relaxing and relieving stress. There are work songs to make tedious tasks more bearable. There are marches and fight songs to prepare for battle, and there are lullabyes to soothe each other to sleep. There are love songs for courtship and battle raps to playfully establish social dominance. In preliterate societies, music was a crucial mnemonic device, and it's still extremely useful for that purpose. And modern language continues to have substantial amounts of musical content. Some languages, like Chinese, literally use pitch to convey grammatical meaning. Even "non-tonal" languages like English use pitch, rhythm and timbre to add emotional and social coloring to the bare facts conveyed by the words.

We enjoy music for the same reason we enjoy eating, sex, and running and jumping. Treating music as a frivolity is like treating exercise that way; it leads to unhealthy and unhappy humans.

Trust is both and emotional and logical act. Emotionally, it is where you expose your vulnerabilities to people, but believing they will not take advantage of your openness. Logically, it is where you have assessed the probabilities of gain and loss, calculating expected utility based on hard performance data, and concluded that the person in question will behave in a predictable manner. In practice, trust is a bit of both. I trust you because I have experienced your trustworthiness and because I have faith in human nature.
We feel trust. Emotions associated with trust include companionship, friendship, love, agreement, relaxation, comfort.
There are a number of different ways we can define trust. Here are the dimensions of trust and consequent definitions. 
It is a normal part of the human condition to be constantly forecasting ahead. We build internal models of the world based both on our experiences and what others tell us, and then use these to guess what will happen next. This allows us to spot and prepare for threats and also make plans to achieve our longer-term goals.
The greatest unpredictability is at 50%; a reliable enemy can be preferable to an unpredictable friend, as at least we know where we are with them......

When we trust other people, we may not only be giving them something in hope of getting something else back in the future, we may also be exposing ourselves in a way that they can take advantage of our vulnerabilities. If I buy a car from you and I do not know a good price, you can lie to me so you get a better bargain. If I tell you in confidence about the problems I am having with work, you could use this to further your own career at my expense.
Although the threat of retribution or projected feelings of guilt can counteract your temptation to abuse my exposed vulnerabilities, if you succumb I still get hurt and may still end up with the shorter stick. For our transaction to complete successfully, I must be able to trust that such agonies will not come to pass.....

hi guys your favourite blogger here so listen this isn't a uplifting experience for me or for your benefit. I suffered bad with my family being effected from it so please I hope you found this story amazing .... it's been tough writing but I just had to write it thank you to all of you reading this  ......

It was April 1st 2010 when my family and I were shuffled into a small room adjacent to the ward where my sister was. We were told that she had pancreatic cancer and it was likely she would pass away in the next 7 days. She had been in Southampton hospital since January of that year, and till then the doctors had no idea what was causing my sister's illness. Not until it was too late did they scan for any sign of tumour and it was then they found the route of all the trouble.
Unfortunately by this stage in the illness my sister was in such a weakened condition that the doctors decided using chemotherapy would simply be too much on her body, and told us that there was nothing they could do for her aside from keeping her comfortable.
My sister defied all expectations of the doctors and managed to survive 5 months after her diagnoses. In that time we moved her to 3 different hospitals and a hospice. She couldn’t go through much treatment as the cancer was very severe and she had little strength left. Gemma eventually asked to be brought back home where she could rest in a quieter environment.
The last few weeks of her life were incredibly peaceful, lying in a room surrounded by family members and more flowers than a florist could dream of. In those weeks my mum did everything for Gemma, she washed her, fed her, clothed her and gave Gem all her medicine. Gemma passed away on August 8th 2010 with both myself and my Mum sitting beside her. After everything, I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful way for her to go.
The recovery for myself and the rest of the family is still going to this day and I don’t honestly think it will ever go away. For a few years it took a very heavy toll on me. Even now, almost 6 years on, I still have very bad days where I miss her so much that it hurts, but then I remember the fun that we had and her laugh and slowly I smile to myself because she may be gone physically but I will always hold her in my heart. She's my guardian angel now.
