With the release, sometime next year of Godzilla v Kong, I relate to Kong, on 'Skull Island'.  Skull Island, is the giant ape's, personal domain.  On the island, Kong, guards the peace and the other creatures, on the island, jealously.

The giant ape was born and raised, on the island, and knows, the place, like his backhand. Kong, it appears, would protect his personal fiefdom, probably with, his life.   Look at how he battled, those humans in helicopters with deadly weapons, who wreaked havoc, on the natural fauna and flora.

The humans paid a high price in men and material.   It would seem, Kong, who appears to be the last of his kind, values the peace and quiet, of his island home.  Wo betide, any, (as the film showed), those who dare to come to his island and annoy Kong, by their actions.  If left alone, Kong appears to be a gentle giant, and, can tell the difference, between, those humans who come in peace and those, that, want to do, the opposite.  On the island, itself, his main enemies, appear to be, the 'skull crawlers', lizard-like animals, that live underground.  Kong's species and the crawlers are natural enemies, and in the movie, 'Skull Island'', Kong, battled them, frequently.

I feel like Kong, because, I have created my garden, the way, I want it.  It may not be the most well-kept garden, but, neither is it the most terrible.  I have taken pride in my garden, as it is, my space, my work of art, my creation.  I suffer from anxiety and depression, and I find gardening, seeing things grow, the birds in my garden, therapeutic.

Like Kong, I am very protective, of what I have created, and do not, easily, welcome, interference, criticism, etc.   If, on the other hand, people have constructive feedback or like my garden, I welcome that.  However, again, like Kong, if I find anyone, doing things in my garden, without consulting me, it makes me deeply unhappy. Deeply unhappy, because, I am the creator, sustainer and guardian, of that garden.

If, for example, people suggest something for my garden, which, enhances, the work I have done, and I am in agreement, that's fine.  For example, my stepson and father-in-law, recently, put some fencing, in my garden.  To be honest, I had my doubts, about the fencing, as it seemed family members were making decisions about my garden, without, consulting me.  However, I have let this one go, as the fencing, has blotted out some bamboo plants, that were encroaching on my side.  The overall effect of the fencing has made my garden look better, so, I'm pleased.

Perhaps, to some, the almost obsessive behaviour over my garden is stupid.  Perhaps, it is, but, as explained, when you have put your heart and soul into something, you have a passion for it.   You will go out of your way, as explained, in this piece, to protect it and preserve it.

So, yes, I love my garden, it is my space, my peace, where I can disappear too.  It brings me security, it grounds me, it makes me see things, in perspective, and yes, I can meditate there too, in the presence, of my creator.

Finally, I am sure, we all have our special space, where we feel safe, feel secure, particularly, in today's society.

We know today Mars is an arid frozen desert and us humans have visited this planet umpteen times at least with our probes.  Even now as I type there is a rover moving around on the surface of this world sending back pics to NASA on Earth.  Intriguing pics are sent back daily where we can view them on social media or NASA's website or on YouTube.

Mars has always been seen as a twin of Earth both in science fiction and fact.  People scour photos of Mars even now to see if any life that might there be there today.  From ghost women to giant worms and crab monsters to ufos racing across the Martain sky these people see things that aren't usually there.

Mars according to scientists 4 billion years ago was an altogether different world to the one we see now.  It probably had oceans, a thicker atmosphere than it does today and crucially even life.  How far this life got is up for debate, however.  Most think life was microbial and didn't get much further than that as the planet's oceans dried up and the atmosphere became thinner.  Could this little world still harbour life?  Well, scientists have learnt over the recent years that life on Earth is a lot tougher than we formally knew.  Able to withstand freezing temperatures and boiling water. So with this in mind could life have clung on and adapted on Mars either living on the surface able to withstand the bombardment of ultraviolet rays or under the surface which is wetter perhaps.

it would be wonderful to think that beings had evolved on Mars and are even now slumbering in suspended animation waiting for their world to become hospitable again.  Even some form of Martian animals, not just microbes or lichens or algae surviving in this fascinating world.  Perhaps at this point, I am letting my imagination run wild but it's nice to think that.

Elon Musk will probably reach the red planet before NASA does with people and what happens then only God knows.  I believe if any Martian life exists at all whether it be microbial or stretching the point here humanoid it should be protected from us greedy and destructive humans.  We have ruined our own world and God forbid we should ruin another because that is what we do we humans we cannot help it.

In the UK today we remember the 6 million Jews who perished in the Nazi death camps of the 1940's.  This act of barbarism has to be one of the worst atrocities ever inflicted.  Let us not forget other minorities who also perished in the camps.  Today there are programmes on reflecting the Nazi atrocities and that is no surprise in keeping with what happened back then.

Is it fair to blame today's German people for what happened all these years ago?  The German people should never forget what a previous generation did to the Jews and others but you cannot blame today's Germans for what happened.  Germany today is a multi-cultural modern nation.  True the far right the AFD was elected to the Bundestag (the German parliament) but are they really Nazis or Germany's equivalent to UKIP?  The AFD came about because of many German peoples concerns about the tide of people Angela Merkle let in from the Middle East.  It is understandable the German people would have concerns about migrants lest they are undercover ISIS operatives.  Despite the rise of the AFD many Germans on the left and far left plus thousands of ordinary Germans would not stand for another government like the Nazis or at least it is be hoped they wouldn't!

Does the Holocaust draw us away from other atrocities though that happened in the past and in recent history?  Are we remembering the Holocaust at the expense of other peoples who suffered genocide?  A recent example would be what ISIS did to the Yazidis or what happened in Rwanda or what the Serbs did to Muslims?  Stalin, for example, exterminated far more people than Hitler ever did as did Mao.  What about the Irish Potatoe famine that the British inflicted on the Irish or the Americans with Native Americans etc.  I could go on but I guess you get my point.

Israel today as a Jewish state has the right to exist and hopefully always will do.  However, the conflict with the Palestinians is a sore that needs healing.  While atrocities happen on both sides it is Israel at the end of the day that has the firepower to inflict greater suffering on the Palestinian side.  When Israel was set up in 1948 many Palestinians were forced from their homes, killed, raped, their holy places desecrated.  It is a story of their own holocaust or the Nachbar as they call it.  Palestinians are still suffering today on the West Bank and Gaza thanks to Israel's activities in those areas.  Is this a case of the oppressed becoming the oppressor?

So today as we remember the awful Holocaust let us not forget other genocides that have happened in our world and are still happening in the world.
