Meeting a Friend after 32 Years
.
Saturday is our market day in our small city. Of course, there are many people like the ambulant vendors and the market goers doing their business. Those vendors are coming from a nearby towns and cities taking advantage of the once-a-week market day. They sell farm products like chicken, fruits, vegetables, among others.
I take a time to buy two small packs of garlic from a little boy and unexpectedly a middle age woman accosted me and greeted, "How are you, Sir". I looked her and smiled.
"I'm glad we have met," I quipped as I force myself to remember her. She was one of my energetic softball players before when we were in college sometime in 1986. I was their Department President of Education Course.
It's good she's apt to tell me her name. She's Pura, now an elementary classroom teacher in San Isidro Elementary under the Division of Negros Occidental. She'll be retiring 2 years from now.
It takes us more than 30 minutes in a happy conversations, exchanging successes in life especially in the field of teaching profession. It's already about noon time. We disperse full of happy memories.
Have you met lately your long lost friend? How's your feeling?
