General election called!
May was attacked earlier on for not holding a general election to cement her government as having a mandate from the people. Now it seems with Brexit happening and the opposition parties not exactly setting opinion polls a light she is going for a general election she probably feels she can win comfortably.
I was once a Conservative supporter believing everything that came out of the mouth of David Cameron as an alternative to Gordon brown. How wrong was I Cameron like many politicians promised this and that but delivered nothing but cutbacks, austerity, and hell? I got so sick of Cameron's mantra 'Making work pay' yes possibly in their millionaire's world.
Now with May 'Making a country that works for everybody' her mantra that to me is just as bad as Cameron's 'Making work pay' just words same as her mantra understanding those who are just about managing words and no thought of care behind it.
Jeremy Corbyn of all the opposition leaders has the most to lose if he and Labour lose big time as polls say they will. Tim Farron who took over the Lib Dems after their catastrophic defeat at the 2015 general election has something at least campaign on and that is the Lib - Dems seem to be on the up. The SNP may have mixed fortunes this time round but will probably remain the main party in the Scottish Government and for Scottish representation at Westminster and funnily enough are probably the strongest opposition party to the Conservatives across the UK. As for UKIP well, I did support of their policies but not necessarily them wanting to come out of the EU this issue was always something I looked long and hard at. Without Nigel Farage even though he may be coming to a pub near you for this campaign they have a different leader in Paul Nuttall and the fortunes of the party at the May 4 local election and the June 8 general election remain to be seen.
Personally, I would like to see May and her government soundly thrashed for what they have done to the poor but that's me.
