La Carlota Christmas Festival of Lights. It has become a tradition now among the La Carloteños whose ancient name is Mangkasanon, the ancient inhabitants of La Carlota to usher the coming of Jesus' birth by launching the Christmas Festival of Lights.
It is formally opened on the 14th day of December after a simple rites of songs and dances of performers who are drabbed with white and red costumes resembling the very color of Christmas.
Our very own Mayor after saying the oracle of Christmas and its importance to the people of La Carlota do the honor to switch on the light to officially open the Festival of Lights.
Then it is followed by a 10-to-15 minutes of fireworks or pyrotechnics. The entire people or the audience inside the public plaza cheer to their heart's out the joy, the happiness, the gaiety which they feel as the lights keep on playing at the sky covering the well-lighted plaza where trees are adorned with glittering, sparkling Christmas lights.
Visitors coming from the nearby towns and cities and even tourists from different parts of the world join the crown in jubilee, in appreciating the festival of lights. But the family has benefited this much. It the best opportune time to be reunited again in this joyous seasons of the year.
