Twilight...My Thoughts on the book and movies!

.
Hello guys! I've been away again I know haha, but I'm back now and I thought I would give a little book review! So we all know the books or movies called Twilight, I personally hated the films but I thought I would give the books a read and see if they were any good...They are!

The book is Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer. Now as I said I wasn't a big fan of the movies as I found them to be quite cringy, I would even say bad acting on some parts just because the casting could have been a lot better. They also changed a lot of aspects from the book and in the film.

For example, in the movie Bella is portrayed as this awkward antisocial teen who is very clumsy and not really good at anything but in the book, she's actually a teenager suffering with depression, broken up parents and she has all of these different hobbies that are expressed in the book. The depression is actually brought up a lot in the book which, from personal preference, I like, I like it because it feels like it's bringing attention to depression in teens and others. Not many books focus on characters that have depression.

A lot of the characters in the books have huge back stories! I never really knew about Alice from the movies and reading this book I got to know the character a lot more, we learn about her past...well we learn about everyone's past including Esme who was also depressed, I think that's why she takes so kindly to Bella because she sees herself in the young woman.

Roseline is a character in the book who is a sister to Edward, we learn in the book that she was supposed to be his girlfriend but they didn't like each other. Also in the book she never speaks to Bella directly whereas in the movies she's actually given a lot of dialogue that originally comes from Alice.
More on the family...
We actually see in the book that Emmet and Jasper are fond of Bella, they both feel like she is apart of the family and that she makes Edward happy. Emmet even treats her like a younger sister towards the end of the book, caring for her and trying to help her when something bad happens.
Even Jasper, who is a new ''vegetarian'' vampire, warms up quickly to her, he even picks up on the things she's feeling. For example.

In a hotel scene Bella is feeling like she isn't good enough and she isn't worth all of the fuss that is happening around them. Jasper actually comforts her on this and explains why he thinks she is and helps change her mood with his creepy vampire powers...but in the film we see him keeping an awkward distance and always staring at her...so the book is a fresh new look at his character.

The big fight at the end of the movie and book. Now if you've seen or read Twilight you'll know what I'm talking about here. But there is a big fight scene towards the end with another vampire. I won't get into details but a big deal for me was when Bella goes to see him.

In the movie she stupidly leaves the vampires after hearing her ''mum'' in trouble. She instantly runs away not thinking about anything and just goes to find her mum. However in the books, she's more hands on. The bad vampire actually tells her what's happening, and that she has to leave the Cullens behind...which she does and she does with great skill. Using a back exit in an airport she's in with Alice and Jasper.

Another big no no for me while reading the books was the venom scene. Bella is bitten by a vampire and has the poison which will change her running through her body. In the film we see a dragged out scene between Edward and, a very poorly acted, Bella. She's screaming out in agony as the venom goes through her but in the books she's actually dreaming, she thinks she's seeing an angel and doesn't feel the pain. Once she looks around the room noticing a fire in the corner she thinks that's the pain in her hand, yes I said hand, in the movies it's her wrist.

Edward doesn't struggle to stop as much in the book as he does in the movie, he said he found it hard but he knew he could stop because of how much he loved her.

Just a few more things,
Edward isn't creepy towards Bella in the books, he feels open with her and in fact makes a lot of jokes about her being in love with him even though he is a vampire.

Anyway long story short,

THE BOOK IS SO MUCH BETTER
