In October 2003, a collective art exhibition called "Rio Caribe Calor y Color" was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cumaná, capital of the Venezuelan state of Sucre. In this exhibition, pieces by five artists from Río Caribe, capital of the municipality of Arismendi, where I have my residence, were exhibited.
Four painters and a photographer participated in this Collective Exhibition, and the journalist Tamara Rodríguez, responsible for writing the review included in the brochure that was given to the visitors, said about the artists the following: "José Gregorio Valencia, Raúl Reyes, Oswaldo Farías , José Ramón Cerdeira and Aníbal Bastardo are five artists from Río Caribe with trajectories, proposals and visions so different that this concise presentation does not intend nor can it be broken down ".
From this friend of his, who has the pleasure of sharing a little of his existence and his work through this wonderful medium, he said: "Raúl Reyes is the narrator of the Nivaldo region, his story is diverse, but he has the Caribbean tone Raul sees the overwhelming sun through his clear eyes and when he gets out of his hands he finds no other way of being than through color. His daughters, in one way or another, are his models when he wants to perpetuate in the canvas or paper this nature that captured him a few years ago when he walked up and down cerror as a rural school teacher ".
The image that I show in this article is an oil on canvas of medium format titled "Bubbles". For this I took the face of my eldest daughter as a model and the flower that is in the hands of the figure is a hibiscus, known in Venezuela as "Cayena" and "Cachupina".
