Man In Scotland Builds His Very Own Hobbit Home And It Is Still Functional After Almost 40 Years

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books are among the most loved novels in literary history. Written by J.R.R. Tolkien between the 1930s and the 1950s, the books have built a huge fandom which has only increased since the release of the films based on the books in the 21st century.
However, while there may be big fans all over the world who love and cherish the books, there are some fans that take things that one step further. One of those is Stuart Grant from Scotland, who in the 1980s built his very won 'hobbit-hole', based on the homes inhabited by the likes of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.
Located near Tomich, Scotland, the home recently caught new attention online after Grant's nephew, who goes online by the name 'KahlumG', shared images of his uncle's abode. The pictures instantly went viral with thousands of people fascinated by the fact that someone had taken so much time to construct something that looks so like what we imagine from the books and what was seen in the later films.
The exterior of the home is covered completely in moss and the home has a rounded door both features true to the books. Inside it is extremely cosy with beautiful furniture and décor. It even comes with a shower and a fireplace which means that the home is entirely habitable.
Amazingly, Stuart allows people to visit his home and even invites them inside, meaning over the years thousands have fans have made the trip from all over the world to see the hobbit-house first-hand.
The Hobbit book has sold 100 million copies worldwide, while the Lord of the Rings books have sold a combined 150 million copies. The blockbuster films directed by Peter Jackson are thought to have brought in about $6 billion in gross revenue, making them one of the most successful film franchises ever made.
