A couple live in a Combi and travel the world

.
A couple travels the world in combi 3 years ago and fulfilled their dream: arrive in Alaska

Paul and Erika have known each other since they were 11 years old and 3 years ago they decided to embark on a journey that changed their lives: they united Argentina with Alaska

It seems like a story out of a romantic novel, but it is as real as its protagonists. Paul, Erika and Aurora are a family with something different to tell. A story, an adventure, a world of anecdotes that only they know. To unite Argentina with Alaska in combi is the premise of this trip that they undertook three years ago and of which today they can speak proudly. They are in Alaska, the place they so longed for since the pages of a book defined their destiny.

They met for the first time at age 11, when they were studying together in the Buenos Aires. They shared a bench, laughter accomplices and thousands of mischiefs like any couple of friends in their early teenage years. They were not dating, although Erika admits, laughing, that at age 13 they tried and lasted two hours and Paul "bounced" twice before she dared to tell him that she no longer saw him as a friend. They left for a while and at age 19 they went to live together. They knew well what they wanted and that was (and is) to go through the life of the hand.

How did this 29-year-old couple get to buy a combi, drop everything and travel the world?

In a call by Skype, Erika and Paul speak from Alaska, the place they pointed to since they began to dream about this trip that began in August 2014. They are excited, but above all, in love with their history. It is not a science to notice. No answer ends without the other completing it and no complicit look ends without a caress in the hair or in the face of the other. "When we were in school we talked about when we finished we wanted to go around the world with a backpack," says Paul, "in the end we finished and did what everyone does: study and get a job." Account that coincidentally, in 2012, they were without work at the same time and that was the trigger of an idea that had been brewing for some time.

A book was the one that ended up convincing the couple: "Paul was reading a book, Catch your dreams, Herman Zapp, he is Argentine and they went with their partner in a car to Alaska", says Erika and says that since that moment "returned life to the body". It was then that he proposed to undertake the same trip with a combi. The meeting with the Zapps in their passage through Argentina motivated them even more and there was no turning back.

- Did you have moments of crisis?

- Yes. Especially at the beginning. Once we were stranded in a salt flat in the north of Argentina in the middle of nowhere and saw that in the distance there was a ranch. It was 3 hours of walking, it was night, we had no coat or flashlights and while walking around I felt that Erika was dazed and she had a tear. I felt very bad and I reconsidered why we were doing this madness. But after that, we got help right away and we solved the problem.

You can not imagine a trip of such magnitude without some obstacle in the way, but they always maintained the optimism and humor as a flag: "The other day on the Alaskan highway we were in a part that is desolate, almost no car passes and you can even drive 10 hours without seeing another car, "says Paul, avoiding the laughter that looms in." I wanted to make a U-turn in the middle of the route and we suddenly saw sirens and lights. "It was the police. He asked us where we were going and we were tempted because he was bizarre to the extreme, so the policeman, who was Canadian, burst out laughing and told us in English that if we were going to do a U-turn we will look back and, above all, there will not be a patrol car, what were the chances that there would be a policeman there? "

They achieved the goal they set for themselves. But the road does not end there. In a few days they will head north to a town on the shores of the Arctic and then live for a year and a half between the United States and Canada, where they will work to pay for return plane tickets and, of course, the return of Aurora. by boat, which will accompany you until the end of your journey.
