The Real Meaning of Volunteerism
The feeling of being a volunteer is indescribable and cannot consider as worthless to the eyes of marginalized people. There are only two types of rendering reinforcement of assistance to the unfortunate people who are in deep poverty: provide goods and render free services. The process of such reinforcement can be introduced internationally or nationally level.
There are some differences in providing the reinforcement in helping marginalized people. It comes to a point that the effectiveness can be a failure or success. Through the years of donating goods, it had shown the unsustainability because the goods were not used accordingly. It is most likely that the goods will be wasted and cannot be able to stay long in its quality. Some people who are connected to international or national non-government organization called this as dole out process.
On the other hand, rendering services can bring forth the need of acquiring soft skills from an expert in particular expertise. It has been effective because the services are not limited as compared to doling out. With the acquired skills, it can be sustainable and the marginalized people can able to use it all through their existence. The categories fall into a livelihood, intervening to medical assistance, governance, agriculture, etc.
There are some occasions that goods and services can be a perfect combination to give assistance to marginalized people. Either international or national non-government organization, if they provide goods, it can be given without a doubt of reinforcing particular services. For instance, some hospital facilities were given some tools or equipment; a medical profession will render his or her service the proper usage to the hospital staff. At some point, the goal is hitting two birds at the same time.
Volunteerism is a selfish act and cannot be questioned. It is a personal passion and interest to extend a helping hand to marginalized people. It is how the people wanted to make the society aware of the biggest role of these volunteers in their lives.
