“Attention soldiers, you have a mission today,'' The commander, a middle-aged man with bulging muscles in his snappy Army uniform, was moving back and forth, striking his vocal notes to the two combat-ready soldiers standing like real-life statues waiting for their assignment. This was their final mission after being in the Army for a number of years.
“Here we go again. Same shit every other day. After this, I will be a free man...” Waflay thought.
It has been his dream to leave the Army after many successful missions. His Code name ‘The Eliminator” has served its duty and it was time to retire. Call it quits!
With this in mind, he smiled a little and concentrated on what the commander was saying.
"Your mission is easy today, gentlemen. I should have picked anyone else for this mission but because you wanna go home with your limbs intact, I chose to make it easy for you.
"Today, we’re going to bring back our POWs. We have decided to release one terrorist. The terrorist who was convicted for murdering innocent civilians in the Nairobi Mall will be released in exchange for ten of our own. We can’t let that happen, boys!
“So today, you two characters are going to make sure that the terrorist and his fellow members do not survive the exchange. Remember, we do not negotiate with terrorists.”
“Sir! One question, sir!” Waflay said, “Who else will be involved in this exchange, Sir! “
“None of your business, soldier! Your mission is to eliminate the targets after, and only after the smooth exchange of POWs. Is that clear?”
“Sir! Yes, Sir!” Waflay and his partner answered.
“Good, make use proud. Off you go.” The commander said and turned around to sit on his office chair.
The room was small with big Mahogany table covering almost a half of the size of it. It had only two chairs facing each other across the table. One metallic cabinet sat in one corner and other stuff resting scruffily in another corner. And yes! The room was quiet but windowless.
