The English - Counter-Armada
.
The English Armada, also known as the Counter Armada or the Drake-Norris Expedition, was a fleet of warships sent to Iberia by Queen Elizabeth I of England in 1589, during the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604) and the Eighty Years' War. It was led by Sir Francis Drake as admiral and Sir John Norreys as general, and failed to drive home the advantage England had won upon the dispersal of the Spanish Armada in the previous year. The campaign resulted in the defeat of the English fleet and eventually to a withdrawal with heavy losses of both lives and ships. The Spanish victory marked a revival of Philip II's naval power through the next decade.
In the English side we had:
Six galleons
60 armed merchant vessels
60 Dutch flyboats
20 pinnaces
23,375 men
In the Spanish Side we had:
Four galleons
Unknown armed merchant vessels
15,000 men
The Casualties were:
England:
11,000–15,000 killed, wounded or died of disease
40 ships sunk or captured
Spain:
900 dead or wounded
How you can see, we always heard the story of the defeat of the Duke of Medina Sidonia and the Felix Armada (Invincible Armada called by the English after the battle to make the story bigger), But what we don´t know (As they black us out the defeats) is that England sent a larger armada than the "Invincible" to Spain and was completely destroyed.

ze2000 › Spanish were not able to maintain their Armada and their captains were just drunkards. They lost their power becuse of themselves, they just love to blame everybody else about their incompetence (and they still do)
ze2000 › I think he's working
Bilston › I'm just asking because we haven't heard much from him lately.
Borderline › At least they don't burn all the documentation refeering to their defeats, like England always did.
