Golden Gate Bridge

Definitely top of the list when visiting San Francisco. We were very lucky with the weather and had a beautiful day.

We rented bikes from Fishermans Wharf. The Bridge is a few miles from the Wharf with a couple of big hills in between and well worth the ride. Make a stop at the Palace of Fine Arts along the way.

There are a couple of great photo spots on the lead up to the Bridge that you don't usually see on the postcards. Keep your eyes peeled for whales which can be seen regularly feeding in the waters around the bay.

There are lots of pedestrians along the route and on the bridge so take care when cycling. With more great photo opportunities from the other side of the Bridge looking back over to the city make sure you ride all the way.

The full ride with stops took us around three hours in total and we comfortably made it back for fresh seafood from Pier 39.

Tips

*Take plenty of water with you.

*Wear suncream even if cloudy.

*Take a jumper in case the fog rolls in.

*Watch out for pedestrians.

*Keep your eyes peeled for whales.
