The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, has convened a council of ministers at seven this afternoon to implement Article 155 of the Constitution after the Parliament of Catalonia has proclaimed independence by 70 votes in favor, 10 against and 2 in white. The Council of Ministers will address the measures taken under 155 of the Constitution. One of the first measures to be approved is the removal of the Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont and the rest of the Catalan government.
It would be followed by the designation of authorities or creation of bodies for the management of the Generalitat de Catalunya and it is foreseeable that measures are also taken on the three main areas of intervention: Security, Economy and Finance and Telecommunications. It is expected that in the Council of Ministers also the designation by the Executive, the people who are going to take care of the management of the different areas of the Generalitat or the creation of a new organ, as it appears in the agreement of the Council of Ministers that the Government forwarded last Saturday to the Senate. This is an issue that, according to the sources consulted, is not yet closed.
