Epilepsy (My Story) - Part 1

.
So yes with the title being 'Epilepsy (My Story)' it is about me having Epilepsy and how my life is.

Here is facts on Epilepsy if you don't know what it is: https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/what-is-epilepsy

Now this is my story and what my life is like:

So I became Epileptic in Spring 2006 at 11 years old. This year marks the year of me being diagnosed with Epilepsy for 11 years. Can't believe it was that long ago.

The day I got it I remember I was playing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the living room TV and it started flashing so I switched it off and headed to my room so I thought. My mum was out with the dog and I didn't want to go out so she allowed me to stay home. When my mum returned she thought I was playing dead. I had a tendency to do that when my mum was out and she returned. I would just lye on the floor pretending I was head so my mum was like nudging me and I didn't react at all and she actually kicked me and I didn't react so she obviously then phoned an ambulance. I remember coming back to my senses and I was sitting on the living room sofa in between two ambulance people. I had those sticky pad things with electrical hooks or something? placed on my body (arms and sides) . I remember getting taking to the hospital and my mum was driving with PJs for me to wear in case I had to stay over night. I didn't have to. I was allowed to go home that same night. I remember looking up and seeing the ambulance guy sitting behind me and I forgot that the ambulance glass that you can see outside from the inside and not the other way around so I saw my mum driving behind the ambulance and I was waving with my feet because i was tucked in tight under a blanket I could see my mum concentrating on her driving and I felt annoyed because I was waving and trying to get her attention but she didn't acknowledge.

On the way home I told her and she explained that she couldn't see me.

For the first few months my mum would sit in the bathroom on the toilet and read a book whilst I bathed. Also my mum moved her bed into my room for awhile and then moved back into her own room and for years I had to have a baby monitor in my room.

The later on parts will be less detailed more like this happened and that happened.

NatashaT1994 That's good that you are seizure free now. My seizures are still reoccurring just not so often now. Once every 3 months if I'm lucky instead of twice a week. Hope your baby was ok when you took that seizure.

Alex Hopefully it didn't affect him.. that's why I took more precautions for the 2nd pregnancy.. I increased the medication and fortunately nothing happened ? the doctors told me I'm seizure free and to stop the medication. But no way.. all the time I stopped, I was having lots of them. . So I'll keep them.. for now.. I'll see in the future...

HappyLady I once had a job in a hospital where they looked after epileptic children when they got sick. For this reason, I understand what you went through as a child.
