The five second rule
.
Do you ever feel like you can't accomplish something when you spend too much time hesitating to do it? If so, have you heard of the 5 second rule: it implies that if you do not do something within 5 seconds of thinking about it, you will not do it at all. Motivation is something that is seen as not useful by Mel Robbins; because, she believes that motivation can make you feel jaded and ironically unmotivated. Namely, in order to achieve our goals and aspirations, we must abstain from self-doubt and do things instantly rather than 'when we feel like it'. Discipline and consistency is key to achieving your goals in life, says Denzil Washington. Denzil Washington is a renowned actor, and well known for his films American Gangster, The Hurricane and The Equaliser, and lastly safe house. His roles are very believable, as he is very versatile and can play almost any role. In Hollywood, it is very easy to be typecasted, nevertheless he fulfilled his aspiration to become one of the worlds most recognised African american actors.
When we have gone through a lot in our lives, it common that we put up walls for self-defence to protect ourselves from what may harm us. From psychological perspective this is called a defence mechanism. We are survivalist creatures, therefore, we will do anything to protect ourselves naturally. For instance, if we are drowning in water, we will fight to grasp air and to swim to safety if we can. It is imperative that we do not let our past get the best of us, after-all, as human we were built to survive and withstand emotional pain and physical pain, that is what makes us stronger. In my life I have been through a lot of hurtful experiences, that have made me doubt my ability to prosper in life. I had a lot of familial support which is useful when over coming emotional and/or physical pain, and also I reached out to my friends although I used to suffer in silence which is found was not helpful.
Overall, I believe that in order to achieve what we want to in life, it doesn't just require discipline and consistency, but it also requires self-belief. If you do not believe in yourself, you cannot expect others to. If you have a business plan, but you don't put it into practice, how will you ever know what you have achieved pragmatically. If you wanted to change yourself for the better, how will you ever know what the change felt like if you didn't put it into action and not try to do something, but 'do'. We only have one life, and so we should make the most of it. We should be who we want to be, as long as that does not conflict the well-being of others, we should be kind, we should try our hardest to ensure that our lives are purposeful so we can hold on to happiness and never let it go.
