Are you afraid of the Dark?
.
Honestly...yes I am. I can not sleep in a room which is pitch black or no lights at all. Especially if I am alone. Now if there was tiny light I might. But also ever since I have been taking care of my mom I always have a light on. Actually 2 in the bedroom. One in a corner and one in the small hallway to the bathroom. Ever since my mom has Alzheimer and fell once , I make sure it is lighted enough for her to see.
If there was someone with me in the room (and I must know him/her) I might be able to sleep in a dark room.
I like to watch horror and suspense movies. Maybe that could be a reason why I do not like dark rooms or places. I prefer to have a well lighted street or area at night if I have to go out.
I also do not like to be alone. Some people can live alone but I am not one of them. like to have people around. It seems so lonely and depressing to be alone.
Now that I am getting old, near the senior years, it is nice to have someone here with me. In case I need help for myself and my mom. It is also nice to have someone to talk to, to watch TV with and to laugh with.
Now in my country there are always power failures or brown outs. It is ok if during the day, but at night, it is harder. It used to be that when there is a power failure I would wake up to a pitch dark room and house. I always have a flashlight and my cellphone beside me so i would turn one on. Then I need to get up and light a candle in the room. Sometimes it can be dangerous if I fall asleep before turning it out. So most of the time I would be half awake till the power comes back on, I'm lucky if the brown out is just a few minutes to an hour. But now I found these rechargeable light bulbs. You just use them like any ordinary light bulbs but the advantage is when there is a brown out, the lights stay on. If fully charges it can stay on for 4-5 hours, I do not use the high wattage but 5 watts for the corner, 9 watts for the hallway to the bathroom and for outside the room another 9 or 12 watts. There is one light outside the bedroom door because my mom has a tendency to open it at night and sometimes goes out. There are 3 steps so at least she sees them.
So now I have no problems if there is a brown out at night, i will still have a lighted room and house and no danger of an unattended candle. No chance of fire. The pictures show where I put the light.
