When The BBC was All That
.
There was a time that we used to listen to the BBC World Service. It was broadcast on our local station from 8 - 9 twice a day.
When we were abroad, we used to buy short wave radios so that we could listen to the BBC.
Then, the BBC would come over on FM and so we used to turn it on as we woke up.
This is because it was mostly news with a number of educational programs.
We were taught to follow the 'paradigm' of the BBC.
That is; tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and tell them what you told them, when you wrote your exams. For that was how the BBC World Service Operated.
There was a change a few years ago.
The BBC now offers worthless blah blah for most of the day, squashing news into 5 minutes every hour, 2 minutes every half hour, and the remainder made up of stuff that rarely educates, informs or amuses.
