Know all about the Euphorbia milii flowers

.
Euphorbia milii or Christ thorn is a fanerógama included in the genus Euphorbia. It is a spiny shrub that can reach 150 cm in height.

Shrub native to Madagascar, which grows abundantly in ravines, hillsides and terraces in the shade and mostly in full sun.
Of ornamental use, its name makes reference to the crown of thorns that was imposed to Jesus Christ before its execution. It can also be found in some areas of northern South America, specifically Venezuela.

Shrub that can exceed 150 cm in height whose stems end in a terminal rosette of leaves. Their inflorescences are pedunculadas that have several blood red flowers. It differs from similar species because bracts, large, 1 to 2 cm long, are fused two thirds of their length. The floral glands are dentate. Like other euphorbias, Euphorbia milii has a very irritating and caustic latex (milky juice). Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Symptoms of ingestion are burning abdominal pain, irritation of the mouth and throat, vomiting. Poisonous contains 5-deoxyingenol.

It is used as an ornamental garden plant for its colorful appearance and flowering. This plant requires little care, but needs warmth and good drainage.
Its flowering period covers the whole year.
