Did you know the original London Bridge is still standing... in the USA?
.
The original London Bridge resides in hot Lake Havasu, Arizona. The structure was sold to Robert McCulloch the 18th April 1968 for $246000. The blocks were reassembled for its opening in 1971. The light posts on the bridge are French. They were created from melted down cannons used by Napoleon Bonaparte's army.
It is a popular rumor that the bridge was bought in the belief that it was the more iconic Tower Bridge. McCulloch always denied this, also Ivan Luckin who sold the bridge.
