Saint Vasilie the Great

.
On January 14th, the Orthodox people celebrate St. Vasile the Great, a saint known as the great spiritual and spiritual teacher of the church.
Archbishop Vasilie, was named Great for his merits and is considered to be a teacher of the Church, the father of Eastern monasticism, and a defender of faith from heretics. He was born of father Vasili and mother Emelia, during the time of Emperor Constantine the Great, about 329 years old, and died on January 1, 379.
The believers on the occasion of St. Vasilie prepare a special cake called Vasilica. In Greece, a similar cake is called "vasilopite".
