Describing the Tetovo case and writing about its production, economy and trade, the Macedonian revolutionary Gjorche Petrov in his book Materials for the Study of Macedonia since 1986 wrote about apple production: the apple production is the main branch of the fruit sector in the Republic of Macedonia. The most important region for apple production is the Prespa region, which is located at an altitude of about 850 meters. In this region, 90% of the total amount of apple in the Republic of Macedonia, ie about 80,000 tons, is produced.
The quality of the Prespa apple is known and recognized in the world and confirmed by many analyzes and quality controls.
The most common varieties of apple are Ajdredot with about 63%, Golden Delicious 20%, Red Delicious 10% and other varieties with about 7%.
About 20% of the total apple production belongs to an industrial apple, which provides our factory with access to quality raw material for production of apple concentrate of premium quality [3].
With symbolic tearing of the first apple within the manifestation "Prespanski jabolkober" every year officially begins the yearly harvesting of Prespa apple.
At the beginning of the harvest, which traditionally begins on the great Christian holiday Krstovden, it is expected to exceed 100,000 tons every year [4].
In 2016, due to the low temperatures that affected the Prespa region at the end of April, the yield of apples was halved compared to previous years, ie around 50,000 tons of apples were collected. About 2,700 hectares of apple trees were affected by ice, and yields were damaged by 20 to 100 per cent [
