Winnie The Pooh
.
On this date in 1926, Winnie The Pooh book has been released. Its author is Alan Alexander Milne, an English author. The book's name should have been Edward instead of Winnie but, Milne decided to name it after Canadian black bear Winnie, a war mascot in World War I, which was held in London Zoo.
I knew it was a book just, I may have watched the cartoon series. I also remember having Winnie The Pooh notebook for my Croatian classes in high school. A big notebook, with a hardcover.
So, watching it or reading it, it's about a teddy bear named Winnie The Pooh and his friends: Piglet (a small toy pig), Eeyore (a toy donkey), Owl (an actual owl) and Rabbit (an actual rabbit). Other characters were introduced later and in other sequels.
Translated to many languages, even Latin, this book became really popular and a symbol for a children's book.
Nice, isn't it :)

HappyLady › This book and "Now we are Six" by the same author, were staples of my childhood. It is a shame a lot of children now think he is a cartoon and have never seen the book.
