Slava Miholjdan
.
The Serbian Orthodox Church and believers today mark Saint Kririk, a nation known as Miholjdan.Saint Kiriak was a Christian saint and martyr who lived in the 5th century and was a great healer and a companion of the uninitiated. All his life fought against heresies, and his rules for monastic life were very strict. The monks ate only once a day, after sunset.
He said to himself that since the monk, the sun never saw it eaten or angered by someone.
According to the tradition, he was strong and large, despite a strict post. He experienced a deep age and died at the age of 109.
According to the folk belief, after the Miholjdan the real autumn begins, and if the warm and beautiful weather continues, that period is called the Mihi summer.Sveti Miholj is celebrated as a glory in many Serbian homes. Boka Kotorska was celebrated by wealthier naval families, and is often called a holiday, and the sailors did not sail so as not to offend the saint.
The people are believed that those who were born on this holiday will have much happiness in life. However, it is not recommended to have a wedding on this date.
Although most church holidays say that they should not be worked on, today the opposite is true. Still, you should not work in the house, but do all the work in the field. It is very possible that such a custom was created under the influence of agricultural works that were carried out before the beginning of the winter.
