Are Rich People Snobs?

It is a common notion that most of the rich people are snobs. A snob according to the dictionary is a person who who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people and a person who dislikes people or activities regarded as lower class.
But I don't think being a snob has something to do with one's social status in life, There are people who have less in life but are snobs too. Why do I say so? Well they think that rich people are stupid for spending too much money on expensive clothes and shoes. To label them as having acted stupidly on such extravagant life is being a snob. Why? We think we are smarter because we spend money wisely? But we failed to consider that these may be extravagant to us but to them it's just a small amount of money because they have more buying capacity, and more money to spend, when we don't.
So I think we don't have to label anybody as a snob based on their financial status. Being a snob is an attitude that one has whether one is rich or poor and no, it's not something to be proud of because it is a negative attitude. And being a snob is not being better than anybody else.
