Nowadays, while researching a completely different topic, I accidentally came across a photo that was made in Veles less than ninety-two years ago. It is a photograph that is an integral part of this text and it shows prominent figures who in November, in 1924, proudly stood on the newly built iron bridge over the Vardar River at the moment when the train was traveling for the first time in the railway. Thus, then the newly constructed railway Veles-Stip was put into traffic.
According to the then regulations when commissioning traffic on the bridge, it had to be the main designer, engineers, contractors, the mayor and all other responsible persons engaged during the construction of the bridge. All of them were standing on the bridge until the locomotive and all the wagons she dragged. They were, of course, pending a decision to announce to citizens that the bridge was well built. This happened but after the railroad track crossed the iron bridge in Veles.
And then there was a great ceremony held in the town where besides the father of the city, the boarders and several famous people from Veles attended the first people of the ministries at that time, as well as the mayors of Stip and other municipalities that connect the railway line. On another occasion, once I complete the research, I will write you a text in which you will be able to read all who stood for and succeeded in the intention to build a railway that connected Veles with a central one with eastern Macedonia. I will also tell you the names of the people standing in front of the railway track.
