Kanlaon Volcano

I live in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Negros Occidental is in Western Visayas along with the provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Antique.

Negros Occidental is in the island of Negros together with the province of Negros Oriental. Our province is blessed with both flat and mountainous terrain plus we have rivers and creeks that are sufficient to water plantations of rice and sugarcanes and other crop. We also have a very good season of rain and abundant sun for our plants.

One of the famous view in Negros Island is Kanlaon Volcano. If I am in Bacolod City, Kanlaon is on the southeast side. When I was a child, I used to look at Kanlaon as king of all mountains in Negros because of its huge size. We used to hear interesting stories about the volcano; that there is a Sota ( a man in half black and half white skin) living inside its crater. We children indeed in those times when we were young believed all those myths and stories told to us.
In June 18, 2016, I had my closer view of the volcano. We took a tour to Canlaon City, a mountain town here also where the volcano is really located.
