Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, city of Seven Lakes, the North Florence, the city of Cathedral, Residence - today, this city has many names. And all of them are suitable because the city is a combination of nature and architecture, great and small forms of art and its 850-year history stories.
We visited the symbol of the city - Schwerin castle built in the 19th century. Schwerin castle *stands on the romantic Burg island. This castle is one of the best examples of European historical architecture, also called Mecklenburg Neuschwanstein.
The castle was built in the nineteenth century, and it was the residence of the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Grand Duchy. The castle is surrounded by majestic neo-renaissance facades, big and little towers, toothed walls, decorated with sculptures and numerous decor elements, its peaks are rising to the sky. The interior of the castle is not less gorgeous, with more than 80 halls.
You can also admire the park - there are channels, figural plant compositions, flower beds. Now, the Earth Parliament is operating in the castle. Near the castle begins the Old Town of Schwerin with ornate houses built over the last centuries.
