Return to Prism

.
With my life facing some imminent upheaval, with some uncertain times ahead, i've been thinking a lot about what i want to do with the hobby going forwards.

The past eighteen months or so, i've owned and managed a tabletop hobby store- Ad Hoc Games - in Huyton, UK, which has allowed me to spoil myself somewhat. I've been able to start new games, at a discount, often including some freebies. This has seen my collection and games played skyrocket from basically just 40k and Star Trek Attack Wing, to Bolt Action, Beyond the Gates of Antares, Firestorm Armada, Firestorm Planetfall, Halo Fleet Battles, Age of Sigmar, Konflikt '47, Project Z and several more.

But all good things come to an end. The store will be closing in the not too distant future, due to financial issues and a bereavement that has removed much needed support, which in turn means those days of spoiling myself are over.

So where to go with the hobby? I've decided to return to the army that i was working on before a store was ever a possibility: The Rainbow Warriors.

The Rainbow Warriors are a Space Marine Chapter that have been in and out of the Warhammer 40,000 canon since the very beginning of the game. They were one of the original paint schemes provided in Rogue Trader, though their name was largely intended as a pun - one of the first pieces of artwork featuring them was of a Sister of Battle - with the fleur de lys symbol - killing a Rainbow Warrior, a reference to the infamous sinking of the Greenpeace ship.

I first started working on a collection of them around 2009, and i chose them for the simple reason that i wanted a Space Marine army that i wasn't likely to bump into when visiting a Games Workshop for a game. So i picked the most obscure chapter i could find, with the least likely to be popular name.

But my collection was really just a hodge-podge of units, without a real theme beyond the colour scheme, and going forwards this is something i want to change.

Firstly, i'll be using predominantly older marks of Power Armour, the styles i personally like the most. This means i will be adding plenty of Mark III and Mark VI to the army. The same is true with the Terminator armour, i want to use Tartaros pattern for the most part, because again this is the design i like the look of the most.
