My Chemistry teacher explains how fat is good for you and carbohydrates are bad for you. He will explain that margarine should be banned. Vegetable oil should be banned. Cereals should be banned. Instead people should eat more fatty foods because fat does not make you fat. He will disagree with the doctors that say eat a balanced diet. Twist to the story is that he suffers from Ketosis as a result of his diet. His son suffers from this as well. Now compare a diet of a normal person i.e. me or anyone of you who does believe in doctors to eat a balanced diet - we don't suffer from any fatal disease as a cause of diet. What are you views about it? Does anyone have similar views to my Chemistry teacher?

Borderline well, I eat carbohydrates before I go to the gym.

tjkhan As much as i believe in a balanced work rest & play diet ... it is rather alarming how opinions of the so called experts change over the years ... certain things which we have grew up regarding as normal have now been deemed to be bad for us ... i think people should act according to what suits them as individuals & implement that into their daily lives...

stepinsidee I thing deseases play a major role in what you eat and how you treat your body.
A balanced diet is important in order to keep fit and healthy and I also believe carbs should NOT be cut out.
Follow a realistical diet that you can stick to forever, ie allow yourself to have a cheat day where you eat what you want, or don't deprive yourself of a bar of chocolate if you crave it but at the same time keep wishing your limits.
Rather then following a strict diet and not enjoying yourself, follow one where you can eat what you want, be healthy and lose weight!

stepinsidee And most importantly on that you can stick to for long-term!

MSBT98 Yh that's absolutely agreeable..... a balanced diet is the main key for a healthy life not "fat is better than carbohydrates" and end up having ketosis.

Do you think doctors fulfil this oath that they take upon graduation?

"Hippocratic Oath: Modern Version. I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow"

ze2000 No they don't. And that's where the origin of the word "hypocrite".

Finally NASA has announced something that we have been longing to hear for such a long time! I hope NASA progresses quickly and that we can physically see the other human life that may exist on the newly discovered Solar System...this is brilliant and so exciting

.

Nasa discovers new solar system where life may have evolved on three planets

Life may have evolved on at least three planets in a newly discovered solar system just 39 light years from Earth, NASA has announced.

ze2000 I just read about it. I wonder how they know if it plausible to contain water. They hardly know where there's water in the Solar System. They're just guessing to justify their budget.

MSBT98 Yh I guess that's another mission...but if they reckon the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold on the planet and they say the temperature does range between 0 to 100 degrees Celsius, surely water would exist in these conditions? I am not too concerned about the budget thing...I just want to know if there are aliens out there or if there is an identical of me haha

ze2000 Anyway it will take a MIMIMUM of 40 years to there. And is that man discovers how to travel at the speed of light (because you cannot travel faster than that, or so Einstein said)

Out in the wild, destruction of indigenous Asian Elephants’ habitats and hunting only satisfy humans, but does it... Read more

I always wondered if these had been really true!

Princess Diana and Bin Laden are both alive and well...! Really?

Princess Diana can be both alive and dead at the same time according to conspiracy theorists.

MSBT98 Yh that's a fair point...why Romania? Possibly she thought it was a quieter place to live...but what I don't get is that if it is really true...surely someone would have found out and someone would have made it a big news...I mean this is about Royal Family not just an ordinary person

In this fast-evolving world, technologies are being updated and modern techniques are vast in many fields. What’s more pertinent here is the fact that should robots with artificial intelligence be utilised in the medical field. I am going to give a brief overview of what roles are played in a t... ze2000 What a question! Robots don't give you lollipops after a vaccine!

No, seriously. Robot will be more effective to performs delicate operations, but robots don't have the capacity to do research on their own (yet).

MSBT98 Haha love the punch line at the start!

Yes that is very true that they don't have capacity to do research on their own yet, but I am sure just how Siri can identify and do a few calculations, for example "Siri what's 2+2?", and it will perform it's algorithms to find the answer for the question, that is all independent research. I am sure one day, there will be robots in the future that can perform more advanced algorithms, for example "Robot take the heart out!" - ouch!

Bilston I thing there will be robots around us to help humans to do specific jobs, like some kind of surgery. The question is: will humans know where to stop and not go to far giving them artificial intelligence?

MSBT98 Yh very true...we don't want to overload them with artificial intelligence in case like I have seen in movies, robots begin to invade the world and turn against humans? I saw this scene in iRobots by Will Smith - quite a nice film!
