What is Black Friday and how it originated?

.
Black Friday is every fourth Friday of the month of November, the day after the Thanksgiving Day of the United States.

But, how did Black Friday come from? There are several theories.

According to one theory, which is also called a black ink theory, traders spent most of the year losing money, and then earned their profits exclusively during the holiday season that would begin immediately after Thanksgiving. Traders, therefore, symbolically used in the accounting records, which were printed manually, used the red ink for the period in which they operated with the minus, and the black ink for the holiday part of the year that made them profit. According to this theory, Black Friday is the day that marked a major entry into the year that brought profits to traders.

According to another, the term Black Friday appeared as early as the 1950s. Many workers were absent from work one day after Thanksgiving for alleged or actual illness, so employers called that day Black Friday. In fact, they wanted to merge the holiday (Thursday) with the rest of the weekend.

The third theory, however, states that it was black-handedly called by the employees themselves, because it’s a hard and long day for traders who must do the innumerable customers who just choose to make up for shopping by spending the day before Thanksgiving at home with their families. Namely, it is considered the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in this country since 1952.

At the same time, the same concept was used by the US police to describe the traffic jams that were created by pedestrians and vehicles after Thanksgiving, when the Christmas shopping season began.

Despite constant efforts to control the crowd by customers, less injuries on Black Friday are the usual thing, at least when it comes to America. Usually they arise as a result of pushing and jumping around the same item or by the smoky stampede shopping mall that rushes towards the entrance or towards the same shelf with the desired products. So that could also be the reason why that day is called Black Friday.
