The pin and curl wave

.
Okay so I always wanted to do an article on pin and curl waves. I was always fascinated with how such an old, traditionalist 1940s style influenced fashion today. Notable celebrities such as Rita Hayworth (American actress) rose to fame in the 1940 era. She was renowned for her sex appeal, as well as her Luscious hair -- And to no surprise her trademark was her 'pin and curl' waves.

But how are these waves achieved? A tong is certainly not how you achieve such waves in hair, so how is it done? Pin and curl waves are achieved by either wrapping your hair around the end of the brush to form a 'bun', then using your fingers to adjust the bun fighter, to finish, pin the bun close to your scalp. Continue to do this to other sections of your hair and part them. In modern times once this is done, the hair can be blowdryed to achieve the curls.

The look is for anyone who is interested in going for a youthful or even mature look. Overall the style is vintage considering its era but is widely worn by celebrities today to achieve an old-fashioned look. Rita Hayworth definitely popularised pin and curl waves. Though it is something that looks like it may be intricate just by looking at the style -- it Is something that is actually very easily achieved. In the 40s onwards, women took care of their hair and how they presented themselves. Hairstyle was seen as a symbolism of social status and style.

Famous women such as Marilyn Monroe also rocked the Pin and Curl look. Her sophisticated as well as sexy sense of style made her famous throughout the world. The "pin up" girl look was that of a woman which wore red lipstick, sexually alluring clothes, and had thick curly hair.

This style was praised in the 30s onwards. The pin-up girls posters were mass-produced and we're on lithographs, postcards or were "pinned up" on some ones wall. For woman that prefer the enticing look, pin up curls are a definite yes. You cannot go wrong, if you chose to wear them to an event or party, in my opinion it's a style that never ceases to get old.
