The goblin shark

The goblin shark, usually found in the deep-sea, is considered a living fossil since it is the last member of the family Mitsukurinidae, a lineage some 125 million years old.

This kind of sharks has a long snout, full of nail-like teeth, they grow around 3 and 4 metres at its maximum age.

Goblin sharks live in submarine canyons and seamounts throughout the world at depths greater than 100 m. Adult goblin sharks are find deeper than young goblin sharks.

They mainly feed on fishes like the rattails or some cephalopods and crustaceans. When they are eating, his jaws extend a lot.

Due to the deep where we can find them, goblin sharks aren\'t considered a dangerous shark, when humans have had the chance to catch one, they placed the sharks in captivity in some aquariums but they survived a short time.
