La Trinitaria (Buganvillea or Buganvilia in Spanish)

.

In Venezuela, due to its geographical location, there are only two seasons or periods, a dry one that goes from November to April, and another one of rain that begins in May and reaches its end in October. It is not correct to qualify the second quarter of the year (April, May and June) as the spring season. However, due to the abundance of flowers present throughout the year in our gardens, parks and fields, perhaps we can speak of an eternal Venezuelan spring.

One of those flowers that are always in our environment throughout the year is the Bugainvillea or Buganvilia, known in Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as "Trinitaria". In other countries it is known by the names of Papelillo, Napoleón, Veranera and Santa Rita. It is important to note that the Buganvilia flower is white and is protected by a group of three small leaves that vary in color, some white and others are yellow, pink, magenta, violet, red, orange, lilac, called bracts.

Another aspect of the Buganvilia that is worth mentioning is its medicinal power to combat respiratory conditions such as cough, asthma, bronchitis and influenza, for which its flowers and bracts are used to prepare tea or guarapos as we popularly call it In Venezuela.
