I feel as if all these were excuses not to hire people because the face didn't fit. Unfortunately as soon as you walk through the doors they start Judging you and if you didn't look or dress a certain way they wouldn't hire you. i personally would hire people on how eager and genuine they come across on the interview also with a bit of background experience or not and give them all equal opportunity and then select the best suited.
