7 Reasons for Art Teacher Demotivation

The teaching profession is becoming more and more difficult today than yesterday. Some teachers, even if they face significant difficulties, they succeed in overcoming them and innovating in their pedagogy. But other teachers are discouraged and demotivated by their profession. Several factors contribute to this demotivation. In this article we will develop 7 reasons for the demotivation of teachers:

1. Lack of collaboration
The teaching profession seems like a solitary profession. The teacher prepares and presents his lessons alone in front of his students without receiving support from other teachers. He feels isolated in his professional practices.

2. Reforms against the teacher

The situation may seem easy for the favorite, but could worsen in the long term, because the other teachers will isolate the favorite colleague and even gang up on him. We also notice a loss of motivation, and a decrease in educational efforts and innovations.

Being a school head requires managing a team. It can be easy to accidentally overlook the needs of some of your teachers. But teachers only need a quick note to encourage them.

4. Disruptive behavior at school
Today's students experience more behavioral difficulties. These behavioral problems can harm their friends, themselves and sometimes their teachers. In other words, they harm the classroom climate, and refuse to work by manifesting this refusal through behaviors such as:

6. The heterogeneity of the students

This is why teachers must manage this heterogeneity and differentiate their practices. But differentiating means more work and preparation for the teacher. Finally, it must offer more complex activities to more advanced students.

Previously, the only role of teachers was to impart knowledge to learners. Today, this mission is becoming more and more complex. In fact, many also have to improvise as sociologists, educators, social workers, etc., in order to transmit this knowledge.

7. Poverty wages
Teachers' working hours sometimes exceed 40 hours per week. They also work voluntarily in the evenings and on weekends. In addition, they manage difficult classes. These stressful situations have negative effects on the health and well-being of teachers. These teachers are the people to whom the parents entrust their children. That is why government and society must support these important people to properly train the adults of tomorrow. Teachers deserve favorable working conditions.

However, they are underpaid, and this salary can have a negative effect on their satisfaction and therefore their motivation. Indeed, a good salary can be a source of motivation for teachers, making it possible to attract the most qualified graduates in the profession and retain them for a long time in the system. In other words, a low salary can make the teaching profession less attractive.
