The death penalty - lethal injection

.

I have always been curious about how lethal injection works, the ingredients of the injection, how long it takes to be effective and whether it is painless for those receiving it. Notably, Switzerland is a place where it is legal to euthanize yourself, debates as to whether euthanasia should be legal still are put foward. For instance, if someone is terminally ill and wishes to die or has a life-threatening condition that causes them pain, hypotethically, should it be legal for someone to choose to end their own life?

After studying moral ethical theory in school, I learned so much on euthanasia, genetic engineering (designer babies), anti-abortion theories, issues on annulment and marriages. We live in a world consisting of natural and moral evil, life is a challenging thing for us all, some people are going through trials that we can't even imagine. I feel we should always try and make the most of life.

Criminality is definitely something I have been curious about, hence, my decision to study Law. Are we born evil, or does our decision to do wrong things and commit transgressions stem from our up bringing or a potential mental illness which can be hereditary or acquired due to our past experiences. Films such as Dead Man walking, Law abiding Citizen, the green mile cover issues such as death row, lethal injection, incrimination and prejudice. Ive been curious as to why lethal injection is legal in America and not in the UK. Maybe it's to do with our constitution, or our Human rights act 1998 which promotes equality and abstains from prejudice.

Lethal injection was Introduced in 1970’s in Oklahoma, the method is approved by the Government of United States for being painless. The process is divided into three stages. A person is supposed to get injected with anesthesia to eliminate any sort of pain.

Finally: the person is injected with pancuronium, which is also known as a paralytic agent. Injecting the paralytic agent stops a person breathing and he finally gets a shot of potassium chloride, which stops the heartbeat right away and causes instant death. In your opinion should lethal injection be legal in most countries, should people be allowed to choose how they die and lastly, should criminals be sentenced to death every where for significant crimes?
