Schönbrunn Palace - Vienna, Austria

.
Schönbrunn Palace is huge and the most important palace of Austria.

It's an UNESCO’s cultural heritage site due to its historic importance, its beautiful gardens and its splendid furnishings and wall paintings.

It is the former summer residence of the imperial family and is one of Europe's most impressive Baroque palace complexes. There were 1,441 rooms in the Palace and each with a different style. Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Franz Stephan of Lorraine had sixteen children. Her son Emperor Franz Joseph, who later married the famous Sisi, reigned from 1848 to 1916, was born here in 1830.

The guided tour I made inside was a wonderful experience and most of the merchandising sold in the Palace is allusive to Empress Sisi.

Sisi was Duchess Elisabeth in Bavaria (24 December 1837 – 10 September 1898) was the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I, and thus Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. She was very avant-garde for her time, and also obsessed with her beauty and weight. So many stories of her life were told during this Palace tour.
