All Hallows Eve
Samhain comes from a Celtic word meaning "Summer's end" and when the harvest season is done it marks the beginning of winter, This festival was celebrated around November 1. It was believed that the spirits of the dead rose up for one night and visited their loved ones.
All Saints Day honors Christian saints, It is referred to as the Solemnity of All Saints by the Roman Catholic Church. All of these previous celebrations gave the Halloween we know today its name.
