The National Day of Venezuelan Cacao

.
Here, in my country, Venezuela, is celebrated today, October 1, the National Day of Venezuelan Cacao.

This celebration began on October 1, 2015 as a result of the management initiated by the Nuestra Tierra Foundation to promote the harvest of Venezuelan cacao in the world. This Foundation recognizes the work done by the ancestor farmers, from this point, to create awareness about the Venezuelan cocoa before the world and increase its production. It also seeks to promote the internal consumption of cocoa and high quality chocolate, increase its export, promote the genetic productivity of cocoa, strengthen the organizations of cacao cultores and promote the image of Venezuela as a producer of fine aroma cocoa.

What is sought is not only to recognize this celebration at the national level, but to celebrate the joint and team work that the different actors of the cocoa chain have been developing, which makes Venezuela the country with the greatest genetic diversity of cocoa in the world, 100% organic cocoa.

Venezuelan cocoa is considered the best cocoa in the world, with Japan as its main importer and Switzerland as the largest consumer. Its flavors and aromas are named after flowers, almonds, fruits, malt and vanilla. Its commercial beginnings go back to the colonial era, when the country became the first cocoa exporter.

The Paria peninsula and the state of Sucre, located on the northeast coast of the Venezuelan Caribbean, produces about 60% of the national production.
It is a pleasure for me and a pride as a Venezuelan, to present, briefly, details about the Venezuelan cacao, one of the most interesting, beautiful and profitable sectors of the country's production.
