Turning old rooftop tiles into art and waking up my soul
.
Since I am new here at Tuetego I have decided to dedicate my first post here to one of my hobbies which is painting. I think it is a great way to introduce myself. For the past few months I have been fascinated by some very old rooftop tile I found in the yard of a house we moved in. They are like hundred years old and you can't find them on the market anymore. I loved the shape and the texture and didn't want to throw those old guys away so I used them instead of traditional canvas. For the painting of this particular one on the photo above I was inspired by a book by Clarissa Pinkola Estes called Women who run with the wolves. It's amazing psychology book about the female potential written in the tradition of analytical psychology. The process of painting this art piece helped me a lot to wake up my creativity because at that time I was preoccupied with all the daily concerns which are able to dry out your soul.As Friedrich Nietzsche once said “We have art in order not to die of the truth.”
