The African Elephant

.
Today I will talk about one of my favorite animals: The African Elephant.

As everyone knows, it is the biggest living animal walking on earth nowadays and there is two different species of them: The Bush Elephant and the Forest Elephant.

The elephants are well known for their big and long tusks made up of Ivory, a really precious material. Unlike Asian elephants, both male and female African elephants have tusks. They are curved forward and continue to grow throughout the elephant's lifetime.

African elephants are found in Eastern, Southern, Central, and West Africa, in dense forests, woodlands or deserts.

The African Elephant`s life hope goes from 40 years to 60 years old, but today, it is so difficult for them to get that ages as they are being hunted by farmers, poachers and other inconveniences as the lack of water and food. They are very sociable and familiar with strong communication skills and they are also one of the most intelligent animals on earth.

The gestation period of an African Elephant it´s 22 month, and the female Elephants are able to start reproducing from 10 - 12 years of age.

Definitely is one of the most beautiful wild animals that we still have, and we have to do our best to save them!

Tiggerfantoo I agree they are one of the most beautiful animals in the world. It breaks my heart that so many species are being wiped out by poachers and loss of habitat. This world really does need to WAKE UP and stop it. such a nasty world we live in, and these dear creatures bear the brunt of humans, life is so unfair
