Chicago is the third largest city (after New York and Los Angeles) and the largest city in the US. It is located in the state of Illinois on the southwest coast of Lake Michigan. According to the 2010 census, there were 2,695,598 inhabitants in it.
The area today known as Chicago once was once a village of Vea Indians, a tribe from the group of Miami, and later, the Potavathi tribe. Today's name of the city was derived from the potatoes of the word checagou, who took the word shikaakwa from Miami (the name of the plant Allium tricoccum, a species of wild onion typical of this area). In the seventies of the 18th century, the first settler Jean Baptist Point du Sable, the Haitian of African descent, settled on the embankment of the Chicago River. In 1795, the Indians left the Chicago area with the Greenwich Agreement to the United States for the purpose of military use. In 1803, fortress Dyrbon was built, which was destroyed in the massacre during the War of 1812, but was rebuilt in 1816, and remained in use until 1837.
Brotherhoods also include Belgrade, because of the large number of Serbs living there.
