Black People, Beards, Gays and Muslims

.
You may think as I write this article I am going on something of a rant well guess what I am. First of all, I do not intend to offend anyone let me make that clear. But it seems adverts these days are working to an agenda of political correctness and fashion or both I'm not sure.

Anyway, let me get right to the point every advertisement you see in the UK these days features a black person. Every advert they are being represented in all walks of life and whats wrong with that I hear you say. Well, nothing and I have nothing against black people being represented and of course, they are as all equal citizens in the UK involved in all areas of society.

However, when you consider that black people are only something like 2% of the UK population shouldn't adverts reflect this. The UK is still and probably always will be a white majority country and so adverts should reflect this too. The UK today is very multi-cultural in places like the inner cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and London but there are places in the UK when you hardly ever see a black person.

This overkill of black people not just on adverts but on tv, in general, seems to stifle other minorities from having their day in in the sun. For example, although Oriental people are represented a bit more now they are still a slim slice compared to the number of Afro-Carribean and African people being overly represented. Another annoying thing now that seems to be getting overkill is your token Muslim. Yes, I know like blacks Muslims are involved in every area of British society and they are not all signed up members of Islamic State or Al Qaeda. However, it seems every programme or advert has a token Muslim usually a woman with said headgear usually a scarf and not the full burqa. Perhaps it is a campaign planned somewhere to show Muslims in a different light and they are not all subversive. However, I find token Muslims annoying because it is like they are brainwashing the British public and they think people are not intelligent enough to realise that what they are seeing is in many cases a delusion.

Then there's Gays and the same thing about them they are over-represented and have to be shown in every walk of life. I don't doubt for a minute that they are involved in aspects of our society but like the other groups mentioned on here its overkill.

Finally, every guy that comes on an advert has to have a beard and while I accept bearded people are involved in all walks of society I find it annoying. I also realise they are trying to appeal to the Hipster brigade but if you watch these adverts you would think everyone in the UK never shaved anymore when that is patently not the case.

Again if I have offended anyone that was not my intention but it is me putting to paper what grinds my gears.

Society today unfortunately or fortunately depends on what side of the fence you believe tries to please everyone and brainwash others into accepting a reality that is not always true.
