Malva Regina

.

Malva trimestris is the botanical name of this species belonging to the Malvaceae family and is commonly known as: malva real, malva regina, malva basta and lavatera. Its synonymies are the following: Althaea trimestris, Lavatera trimestris, Stegia lavatera, Stegia trimestris and Stegia trimestris.

This original Annual of Europe (Mediterranean) can reach seventy-five centimeters in height and forty-five centimeters in width. Malva trimestris uses insects to pollinate its magenta flowers with white touches equipped with hermaphroditic reproductive units. Finally: this species attracts wildlife.

The species Malva trimestris will develop better in soils with acidic, neutral or alkaline pH, being able to reach areas that are poor in nutrients. Its underground part will grow vigorously in supports with sandy or frank texture, these can be kept generally dry or wet. It is very important to irrigate taking into account the previous information, but also factors such as: sun exposure, temperature, soil texture, time of year, etc. All this to find a more or less constant balance in the humidity of the support. An interesting aspect to comment is that it does not tolerate parking, so the planting area must be very well drained.

Regarding your lighting needs, we can say that it is very demanding, it can only be placed in a place with direct exposure to the sun so as not to adversely affect its growth in a normal way.

With respect to its hardness against adverse conditions we can say that, it holds perfectly sea breezes and its growth rate in optimal conditions is fast.
