Jeffery's words have created a kind of 'tumour' in my mind. I realise that people will, (in the words of another friend) 'cling to their concepts more than to their children'.

In reality, you could find an online writing scam, that you know is a scam. You could virtually communicate with the owner who can tell you it is a scam.
The people who were 'always paid' will die defending the bona fides of the site.
